Here are some instructions for resetting the spring-loaded mechanism:
1. Take off the end caps
2. Separate the tubes - pull the smaller tube out of the bigger tube.
3. Turn the smaller tube around and put it into the bigger tube - SPRING GOES LAST. Put the tube into a tube (not spring) - Spring goes in last.
4. Put the end caps back on
5. Rail is ready to use again. You can re-set the rail as many times as you need. It is a simple way to get it back to its original dimensions.
